Low Scape Mound Chokeberry

Aronia melanocarpa 'Low Scape Mound'

Low Scape Mound is the ground-hugging chokeberry that brings everything the full-size shrub does. spring bloom, fall color, winter berries. in a package that works at the front of a border, in a container, or massed across a slope. It stays twelve to twenty-four inches tall and spreads a bit wider, forming a dense, tidy mound that needs no shearing to hold its shape. White flowers in spring feed native bees. Glossy dark berries ripen in fall and persist into winter for the birds. Then the fall color hits. glossy leaves turning bright red while the berries are still hanging. It's a genuine four-season plant packed into a foot-and-a-half frame. Deer won't touch it, it tolerates drought once established, and it grows in clay.
