White Wood Aster 'Eastern Star'

Eurybia divaricata 'Eastern Star'

'Eastern Star' White Wood Aster is a compact, vigorous selection that forms a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover in shaded areas. The dark, arching stems lined with white daisy flowers create a striking visual effect in the September and October shade garden. a constellation of small white stars moving in the breeze under the forest canopy. The cultivar is more floriferous and better-behaved than the straight species, making it a better choice for designed garden spaces. The heart-shaped leaves are dark green and attractive all season on the nearly-black stems, creating a dramatic two-tone effect even when not in bloom. It spreads by rhizomes and self-sows reliably to colonize shaded slopes and woodland edges. This is the plant to reach for when you need a flowering native groundcover that covers ground, suppresses weeds, and blooms in fall under trees.
