Threadleaf Tickseed

Coreopsis verticillata

The straight species Threadleaf Tickseed is taller and more naturalizing than the 'Zagreb' cultivar. it spreads freely into generous clumps and self-sows in suitable conditions, eventually forming the kind of golden drifts that make a meadow planting feel effortless. The same cheerful yellow daisy flowers from June through August, same threadlike foliage, but with a wilder, more spreading character that suits naturalistic plantings better than formal borders. This is the version to choose when you want a plant to fill space, naturalize on a sunny slope, or anchor a large pollinator planting where you want mass and movement. It tolerates dry, lean soil and average fertility. improving soil actually makes it grow too vigorously and flop. Give it room and it will reward you with years of trouble-free bloom.
