Beeblossom

Oenothera lindheimeri

Beeblossom produces a continuous fountain of white-to-pale-pink flowers on long, arching wands from early summer through hard frost. The flowers are small and delicate, arranged loosely along reddish stems that move in any breeze, creating a light and airy effect that dense perennials can't replicate. In the evening, the white flowers glow and the clearwing moths appear, hovering at each flower like tiny hummingbirds. It's one of the longest-blooming native perennials available, with a texture that pairs easily with bolder-leaved plants. The reddish fall foliage adds a bonus color note in October. Drought tolerant and undemanding, it earns its space in the border from June to November without fail.
