'Autumn Bride' blooms in late summer and fall. a genuinely unusual timing for heuchera and one that makes it exceptionally valuable when the garden needs white flowers and most other species have finished. The tall, airy sprays of pure white blooms rise above large, maple-like hairy leaves and provide nectar for late-season bees and occasional migrating hummingbirds. It's among the last native woodland perennials to flower before frost. The large, bold foliage has an architectural quality lacking in smaller-leaved heucheras and handles heat, humidity, and dry shade better than American alumroot or most hybrid forms. It forms large, vigorous clumps over time and is more tolerant of the difficult summer conditions that challenge other shade garden plants.
