Each five-petaled flower is packed with stamens that native bees. especially specialist pollen collectors. work from morning to evening. It's one of the top late-summer pollen sources in any garden, arriving right when other flowering shrubs have finished. The plant itself is a neat, compact mound with small shiny leaves and peeling reddish-brown bark on older stems. It handles dry, rocky, and poor soils that challenge most shrubs. precisely the conditions along sunny slopes, driveways, and open edges where you need a tough, low-maintenance performer.
