Magnifica is a selected form of native coral honeysuckle with larger flower clusters and deeper coral-red color than the straight species. The blooms appear first in spring and continue in waves through summer, with the most intense flush happening when hummingbirds are most active. Semi-evergreen foliage holds through mild winters, giving the vine year-round structure on fences and trellises. Red berries ripen in fall and are taken quickly by migrating birds. Unlike the invasive Japanese honeysuckle that plagues roadsides, this vine climbs by twining and never smothers its support or neighboring plants. It's the better-looking, better-behaved, and better-for-wildlife choice: easy to recommend, easy to grow.

Full sun to part shade, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Prune after the main spring bloom to shape, but leave as much stem as possible to preserve next season's buds. Remove any dead wood in late winter. Does not require feeding in average garden soil.
