Yellow passion flower is the quieter cousin of the showier purple passionvine, but what it lacks in visual drama it makes up in ecological weight. The small, pale yellow blooms appear from midsummer through fall, and the plant is a larval host for several native butterfly species, including the Gulf fritillary and zebra longwing where ranges overlap. Native bees work the flowers consistently. This is a vine that weaves rather than conquers, threading through low shrubs and groundcovers with tendrils rather than smothering everything in reach. Give it part shade to sun and something to climb, and it disappears into the fabric of a naturalized planting while quietly doing its job.

Grows in average, well-drained soil in part shade to full sun. Tolerates drought once established. Cut stems back to the ground in late fall or early spring. it re-emerges reliably from the root. Needs something to grab: wire, a shrub stem, or a rough-bark support. No fertilizing required.
