Garden Phlox
Phlox paniculata 'Jeana'
'Jeana' is the gold-standard native Phlox paniculata selection. selected from a wild population in Tennessee specifically for its exceptional mildew resistance and extraordinary butterfly attraction. The small, densely packed pink flowers in late summer draw more monarchs and swallowtails than almost any other perennial in the garden. Plant it where you can watch from a window or a chair. The fragrance is sweet and pronounced, especially in the evening when the flowers release their scent to attract sphinx moths. 'Jeana' stays clean through late summer heat and humidity when other garden phlox selections develop that telltale white powder on their leaves. Divide every three years and you'll have enough to share. and plenty of reason to plant more.
